The sixth edition of Maker Mela, Asia’s Biggest Maker Gathering and a premier event for grassroots innovators around the world, successfully concluded on Sunday, 24th January 2021. This year, Maker Mela initiated a virtual platform for makers to exhibit their innovations. Projects of more than 100 Makers from over 15 countries were showcased on the Maker Mela platform. Makers from all age groups, 10 years being the youngest to the oldest being 61 years, and various categories like Art & Craft, Technology, Biotech, Environment, Gaming and many more showcased their innovative ideas and iconic products. The videos of these makers received more than 75,000 views in less than 30 hours by visitors from 63 countries including India, Japan, USA, South Korea and Nepal. Maker Mela received patronage from prestigious initiatives like UNESCO, Startup India, Skill India and NYCS.
The second day of the virtual event started with the pitching session where 10 shortlisted makers from across the globe presented their innovative ideas to the investors. The event proceeded with the ChangeMakers’ Conclave wherein a fireside chat with Shri. Ranjitsinh Disale, winner of Global Teacher Prize 2020, was hosted. It was followed by an enriching panel discussion on “Fighting and innovating through the pandemic” with Dr. Yogesh Kulkarni, Executive Director, Vigyan Ashram, Nishtha Kaushik, Co-Founder, Zios Makerspace, Senthilkumar M., CEO and Co-Founder, JioVio Healthcare, Neeti Goel, Co-Founder, Khahachaiya, Rationchaiya, Ghar Bhejo With Sonu Sood, Dr. Srinidhi Ravi, Assistant Professor, ENT, K J Somaiya Medical College as the panelists.
The event concluded with the announcement of the winners and the closing ceremony. 15 participants from various categories were awarded.
