Celebrating Surrogate women of our country, who keep others’ children in their womb for nine months, S K Ahluwalia’s, Waveband Productions in association with Kalamkaar Picture Productions (Writer-Director Siddharth-Garima’s production banner) announces their next creation ‘Dukaan’ this women’s day. The duo of Siddharth-Garima have earlier written films like Toilet- Ek Prem Katha and Ramleela. The Jamtara fame actor Monika Panwar, has been roped in to play the lead character. Womb is one of the most special part for a woman. Giving birth to a new life is a special feeling. And Surrogacy has made it possible for every female to experience this feeling of becoming a mother. The film will be based in Anand, Gujarat showcasing the story of a quirky character dealing with an emotional situation in the backdrop of commercial surrogacy. The film will begin production in the later half of the year and is expected to release in 2022. “For us artists, there are very few occasions when scripts as special as Dukaan come by! Of course I lapped it up! Moreover I share a fantastic tuning with Siddharth & Garima, which I am sure would make the process as much fun, as its challenging”, shared Actress Monika.

Garima, Kalamkaar Picture Productions says,  ‘In our first meeting with the Waveband team, we felt they fully connected to the passion and our commitment to the project. They have shown unconditional faith in us and we are mighty excited about making this with them.’ “There is a big surrogate in every screenwriter!” quips Siddharth further adding. “Having spent our time here as screenwriters in the last decade, we felt something resonated with the emotion of ‘bearing a baby when commissioned, and handing it over, without any attachment. We see this film as a commercial caper – with humour, song, dance, drama and entertainment”.
