Delhi Congress workers, under the leadership of Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Ch. Anil Kumar, held protest Satyagrah and padayatras in all the 14 districts of Delhi against the authoritarian actions by the Modi Government, which was using the Enforcement Directorate to harass Congress President Smt. Sonia Gandhi, in the National Herald case, without any evidence. He said that at the direction of the Union Home Ministry, Delhi Police prevented Congress workers from holding peaceful Satyagraha against the BJP Government at many districts across Delhi, and many Congress leaders were put on house arrest as a preemptive action.
Ch. Anil Kumar addressed the Congress workers at the Satyagrahs organised by the Patparganj, Mehrauli and Badarpur District Congress Committees. He said that the Modi Government’s autocratic rule was trying to crush the voices of dissent, but Congress leaders will not be cowed down by the high-handed actions of the ED to harass Congress President Smt. Sonia Gandhi and Shri Rahul Gandhi, in violation of all the Constitutional and democratic norms
Besides Ch. Anil Kumar, prominent others who participated in the Satyagrahs were Ex MPs Sandeep Dikshit and Ramesh Kumar, former Delhi Minister Dr. Narender Nath, Ex MLAs Vijay Lochav, Balram Tanwar, Hari Shankar Gupta, DCC presidents Dinesh Kumar, Gurcharan Singh, Rajesh Chauhan, Vishal Maan, Vishnu Aggarwal, Communication Deptt vice chairman Parvez Alam, Kamalkant Sharma, spokesperson Vikram Lohia, Dheeraj Basoya, Darshna Jatav, Ved Pal and office-bearers of Mahila Congress, Youth Congress and Sewa Dal.
Ch. Anil Kumar said that the Modi Government has changed the meaning of democracy to suit its vested interest, as free speech has been banned, and those who speak against Modi and his Government are harassed and arrested. He said that the Modi Government was using the ED to persecute Smt. Sonia Gandhi and Shri Rahul Gandhi, without realizing the fact Congress has a history of fighting against the might of bigger forces, and the Modi Government’s arm-twisting methods will not crush their resolve to stand by truth.
