Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Ch. Anil Kumar said that a delegation of Delhi Congress Dalit leaders, led by DPCC vice-president Shri Jaikishan, ex-MLA will meet Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal tomorrow, Wednesday, September 28 at his official residence to discuss the problems being faced by Dalits in Delhi, as the many promises made to the Dalit community have not yet been honoured and they continue to live in the margins of society. He said that CM Kejriwal found time to invite a Dalit family of Gujarat to Delhi to have lunch with him and show them around, which was an election stunt, but he has not solved the numerous problems of the Dalits of Delhi despite making many assurances to them in his election manifesto. Ch. Anil Kumar said that Kejriwal plays politics of opportunism to derive his objectives but did not fulfill his promises to the poor Dalit community after coming to power.
Ch. Anil Kumar said that Congress has always fought for the rights of Dalits, and the Congress Government started the in-situ construction of flats to settle those living in JJ Clusters, which was intended to give them a ‘pucca’ roof over their heads, but over 50,000 flats constructed under this scheme have not yet been allotted to them.
