Air pollution set to get deterioated in Delhi due to the inaction and incompetence of the Delhi Government
Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Ch. Anil Kumar said that due to the inaction and incompetence of the Aam Aadmi Party Government, air pollution in Delhi has been deteriorating every day, for the past several days, with Delhi Environmental Minister Gopal Rai warning that pollution levels will further worsen in the coming three days, to scare Delhiites.
Ch. Anil Kumar said that despite warnings by experts that it was due to the failure of the Arvind Government that air pollution has deteriorated in the Capital, no strong step has been taken by the Government to tackle the problem. He said that despite the Supreme Court slamming the Delhi Government for the uncontrolled air pollution, as the Government was filing misleading information to the Court on pollution, Chief Minister Arvind has been busy in political tourism, in States bound for Assembly elections, instead of being present in Delhi to tackle the toxic Delhi air, which has made the National Capital a virtual “Gas Chamber”.
Delhi CM Arvind has been blaming stubble burning in neighboring States for Delhi’s pollution, but even the Delhi Government was forced to admit that stubble burning made only marginal difference in Delhi’s air pollution, as the main causes were traffic and dust pollution generated within. schools have been closed in Delhi after the Supreme Court criticized the Delhi Government for failing to control pollution, affecting the studies of children, who have already suffered enough due to the long closure of schools due to the Covid-19 pandemic lockdowns. He said that the Arvind Government seems to be least concerned about children’s education and their future, though Delhi Education Minister/ Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has been boasting about spreading the “Delhi Model of Education” in other States, and even in Dubai, and promising to make the income of Delhi youth at part with that of Singapore by 2047! He said that due to stoppage of construction work, the workers engaged in construction activity have been going through untold misery, as the Delhi Government has not given them any monetary help to survive the no work phase.
Ch. Anil Kumar said that it was shocking that no concrete step has been taken by the Arvind Government to address the pollution problem, though hundreds of crores have been squandered in setting up two smong towers in Connaught Place and Anand Vihar, smong guns at ITO and other places, and in the deployment of nearly 2500 volunteers at 100 traffic lights across the Capital for the “Red Lights On, Gaadi Off” campaign, which serve no purpose other that getting some cheap publicity for CM Arvind.
