Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Ch. Anil Kumar said that one more fake promise of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been exposed by a Commonwealth Games (CWG) medal winner, who accused the Delhi Government of providing no help to the athletes, though Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia had shamelessly claimed that “Arvind Kejriwal Government is the only Government which provides help to the athletes for their preparations before winning medals”. Sisodia had also claimed that under the “Play and Progress” and “Mission Excellence Scheme”, “we are trying to fulfill the athletes’ dream to become world champions”. He said that the entire sports infrastructure in Delhi was created by Congress Governments at the Centre and in Delhi while the Kejriwal Government only made hollow promises in the past 8 years.
Kejriwal and Sisodia had derived much mileage in the media in the name of setting up a Sports University in Delhi, though how much progress the University project has made is still under wraps. Interestingly, the land for the Sports University was allotted by the previous Congress Government which had done the initial spade work. He said that though Kejriwal had claimed that “Delhi Sports University aims to nurture and develop a culture of sports that can catapult the underprivileged children to the global arena”, but this was yet another of his fake promise.
Ch. Anil Kumar said that in the past eight years, the Kejriwal Government made only fake promises without implementing any of them at the ground level, which was clearly evident from the deteriorating standard of education in Delhi Government schools and the terrible condition of Government Hospitals, to expose the so-called “Delhi Model of Education and Health Care”.
