63rd National Exhibition of Art (NEA) will be inaugurated by the well-known actor Shri Manoj Joshi on 28th August 2023, said Prof.V.Nagdas, Chairman, Lalit Kala Akademi. The inaugural function is going to be held at the Kamani Auditorium at 4.30 pm, in which Shri Chandraprakash Dwivedi, famous writer, producer, director, actor who had essayed the character of Chanakya will be the Special Guest and eminent contemporary artist, Vasudeo Kamath will be the Guest of Honour.
In the inaugural function presided by the Chairman, Lalit Kala Akademi, Prof.V.Nagdas, awards for the twenty National Award Winning artists will be conferred on them. The award contains a plaque, certificate and a cash prize worth 2 Lakhs Rupees. Lalit Kala Akademi has been conducting the NEA for the last 63 years in its history of 69 years. Founded in 1954, the LKA had celebrated its 69th Foundation Day recently (5th August 2023). The NEA is considered to be the most prestigious art exhibition in the country where the awardees are selected through a democratic process with a two tier jury. The first tier jury shortlists the possible participants for the NEA representation while the final jury, after meticulous deliberations selects the awardees.
Bodade (MP), Chuguli Kumar Sahoo (Odisha), Deepak Kumar (Haryana), Deepak Kumar (UP), Janhavi Khemka (UP), Kiran Anila Sherkhane (Karnataka), Kumar Jigeeshu (New Delhi), Mahendra Pratap Dinkar (New Delhi), Nagesh Balaji Gadekar (Gujarat), Narottam Das (Orissa), Pankaj Kumar Singh (UP), Pawan Kumar (Haryana), Priyoum Talukdar (Assam), Sama Kantha Reddy (Andhra Pradesh) and Somen Debnath (Tripura).
After the award function at the Kamani Auditorium, the dignitaries, awardees and the art loving public would form a procession and would come to the Lalit Kala Galleries at Rabindra Bhavan, Mandi House for the formal inauguration of the 63rd NEA, the Chairman informed. A memorable and valuable catalogue produced by the LKA will be released on the occasion, Prof.V.Nagdas added.
