12th North East Festival to Begin Tomorrow in Delhi, Promising a Cultural Extravaganza and Focus on Tourism Development

The North East Festival is set to commence its 12th edition tomorrow, transforming the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, India Gate, into a vibrant celebration of Northeast India’s rich cultural diversity. Spanning three days from November 15 to 17, this year’s festival will be an immersive journey through the region’s unique music, food, dance, fashion, and art, offering visitors a comprehensive experience of its cultural and economic treasures. With over 300 stalls, live performances, traditional crafts, and a fusion of culinary flavours, the festival will bring the essence of Northeast India to the heart of the capital, connecting attendees to its traditions and heritage.
This year continues the tradition of extending to a significant Tourism Business Meet, a dedicated platform for fostering collaboration between leading tour operators from Delhi and tourism representatives from the Northeastern states. The meet seeks to build synergies that can expand tourism opportunities, enhance Northeast India’s visibility as a travel destination, and open new pathways for business engagement.
Representing IATO, attendees include Mr. Ravi Gosain, Vice President, and Executive Committee members Mr. Deepak Bhatnagar, Dr. Manoj Matta, Mr. P. Vijayasarthy, and Mr. Rishi Kapoor. Their involvement signals a deep commitment to establishing Northeast India as a key destination for domestic and international tourism, with strategic plans to leverage the region’s improved connectivity and scenic offerings.
Highlighting the festival’s role in bridging Northeast India with the broader tourism sector, Mr. Shyamkanu Mahanta, Organiser-in-Chief of the North East Festival, noted, “Over the years, the North East Festival has evolved into a multifaceted platform that not only celebrates the cultural richness of the region but also encourages real opportunities for business and tourism growth.
The festival will include performances by renowned musicians, folk artists, and dancers, along with a fashion segment spotlighting designs by Northeastern talents. Visitors can explore a culinary array of regional dishes, with around 60 food stalls offering authentic flavors that represent the Northeast’s rich culinary heritage. The art and photography exhibits will further enrich the festival, capturing the region’s beauty and creativity.
