NCRTC showcases the Namo Bharat Trains at UMI 2023

Shri Hardeep Singh Puri, Hon’ble Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas and Housing & Urban Affairs, Government of India, today, inaugurated the exhibition stand of the Namo Bharat trains of NCRTC as part of the 16th Urban Mobility India Conference cum Expo in New Delhi.

The stand highlighted the commuter-centric features of India’s first Namo Bharat trains, recently inaugurated for public service by the Hon’ble Prime Minister. The transformative Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) service will bring in several social and economic benefits for the people of NCR.

On the inaugural day of the Conference, Shri Vinay Kumar Singh, Managing Director, NCRTC, spoke during the session titled ‘Strategies for Meeting Challenges in Multi-modal Integration of Urban Transport Systems’. He emphasized the critical role of multi-modal integration in shaping resilient urban transport systems. He stated, “Following a commuter-first approach, NCRTC has prioritized the needs and comfort of commuters over the ease of construction since the beginning of the RRTS project. The first RRTS corridor is being built in a densely developed urban environment, with numerous stakeholders invested in it, but despite complex challenges, we have remained committed to this principle and our efforts are a testament to our commitment.”

The session moderated by Mr. Shravan Hardikar, MD, MMMRCL, saw participation from esteemed experts and leaders in the field of urban transport including MD of Kochi Metro Rail Ltd., Mr Loknath Behera IPS (Retd); Senior Urban Transport Expert from the Netherlands, Mr Guido Bruggeman; Director of Transport India at GIZ Mr Daniel E. Moser and more.
