Meet the young Kauravas and Pandavas of Sony SAB’s Hastinapur Ke Veer and discover their journey of becoming the legends the world remembers

Sony SAB brings to life one of the greatest Indian epics, Mahabharat, by tracing it back to where it all began. Hastinapur Ke Veer takes viewers to the early lives of the Pandavas and Kauravas, spotlighting the experiences that shaped who they became and laid the foundation of their beliefs and choices.
The show brings forward the early dynamics between the Pandavas and the Kauravas, as Pandavas learn that karma has consequences while Kauravas learn that power can evade them. The Pandavas will be portrayed by Athar Khan as Yudhishthir, Subhash Khatri as Bheem, Urva Savaliya as Arjun, Harit Gabani as Nakul and Mayank Yadav as Sahdev the young ones navigating responsibility, emotion and identity at a young age. Each of them responds differently to the expectations placed upon them, whether it is Yudhishthir’s sense of duty, Bheem’s instinctive nature, Arjun’s drive to prove himself, or the quieter presence of Nakul and Sahdev, who observe and adapt in their own ways. In contrast, the Kauravas would be led by Aayudh Bhanushali as Duryodhan and Shaurya Upadhyay as Dushasan, bringing a sense of confidence and assertion shaped by their upbringing within the palace. Their strong sense of belonging and authority begins to define their dynamic early on, influencing how they interact with the Pandavas and setting the tone for the relationships that follow.
Athar Khan, who will be playing Yudhishthir, shares, “Yudhishthir always tries to do the right thing, even when it’s not easy. While playing him, I realised how much responsibility he carries at such a young age. He doesn’t react quickly, he thinks before acting, and that made me understand him better.”
Subhash Khatri who will be playing Bheem adds, “Bheem is quick to react, if something feels wrong, he jumps in. Playing him is full of energy and feels very real. At the same time, he has to control himself, which was new for me. I’ve loved exploring his emotional side too, because he’s not just strong but also deeply loyal. The role has been physically demanding, which has made the journey even more exciting.”
Aayudh Bhanushali, who will be playing Duryodhan, said, “Duryodhan feels like everything around him is his and he doesn’t like it when things don’t go his way. I think he really believes he should always be first and in control. While playing him, it’s fun showing that side of him and how he reacts when someone challenges him.”
With the show audiences can look forward to a fresh and emotionally engaging take on the Mahabharat, where the story goes beyond battles to explore the relationships, values, and choices that shaped these legendary characters.
