Third Global SSI Multi-Specialty Robotic Surgery Conference (SMRSC) 2026 at Bharat Mandapam,

SS Innovations International, the maker of India’s first and only home-grown surgical robotic system, SSI Mantra, successfully hosted the Third Global SSI Multi-Specialty Robotic Surgery Conference (SMRSC) 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. On the first day, the conference witnessed participation from over 1,500 doctors and 250+ leading experts from across the world, reinforcing it’s position as a premier platform for advancing robotic-assisted surgery and next-generation healthcare technologies.
Building on the momentum of previous editions, SMRSC 2026 brought together global surgeons, healthcare leaders, researchers and innovators to explore the transformative potential of robotic surgery, artificial intelligence, telesurgery and mobile surgical platforms. total of 15 live telesurgeries and 14 live surgeries will be performed using the Mantra-3 and MantrAsana systems, offering attendees a first-hand view of advanced robotic surgical capabilities in action.
A defining highlight of SMRSC 2026 was the unveiling of two groundbreaking innovations that signal the next frontier in surgical mobility and accessibility. Taking centre stage, Project Vimana emerged as a game-changing advancement in battlefield and emergency medicine. Designed to deliver expert robotic surgical care directly to wounded soldiers in forward combat zones, the system is deployed via a heavy lift autonomous drone and lands near the casualty site. Equipped with dual 7-degree-of-freedom miniature robotic arms and advanced surgical instruments, Project Vimana enables trauma surgeons to perform life-saving procedures remotely through the SSI Mantra Surgeon Command Center.
From haemorrhage control and chest decompression to shrapnel removal and wound repair, the system bridges the critical gap between injury and evacuation, bringing surgical precision to environments where immediate medical access is otherwise impossible. This innovation represents a paradigm shift in emergency response, transforming how critical care can be delivered in high-risk, time-sensitive scenarios.
Complementing this vision, Project Operion showcased the future of surgical infrastructure through a fully mobile, platform agnostic operating room ecosystem. Built on a wheeled chassis with Overhead-Integrated Robotics and a Zero-Footprint Architecture, Operion eliminates conventional spatial constraints by suspending all surgical components from an integrated overhead system. This enables 360-degree clinician access, real-time reconfiguration, and seamless deployment across hospitals, remote locations, and disaster zones. With integrated telesurgery capabilities and low-latency connectivity, Operion allows expert surgeons to operate remotely, expanding access to advanced surgical care across geographies. From defence operations to humanitarian missions and rural healthcare delivery, Operion transforms the operating room into a deployable, mission-ready asset.of SSI AVTARA Humanoid Applications, which showcased SS Innovations International’s bold foray into humanoid robotic platforms for real-world deployment across critical domains. Leveraging the advanced mobility, dexterity, and perception capabilities of humanoid systemsl,SSI AVTARA is being trained and operationalized for high-impact applications spanning healthcare, defence, logistics, disaster response, and industrial settings. From assisted clinical workflows to operations in hazardous or otherwise inaccessible environments, the platform’s human-compatible design enables seamless interaction with existing infrastructure and tools. Integrated with artificial intelligence, teleoperation frameworks, and real-time sensing, SSI AVTARA supports continuous learning, adaptability, and precision in the field.
Dr. Sudhir Srivastava, Founder, Chairman and CEO, SS Innovations International, a globally renowned cardiac surgeon and pioneer in robotic telesurgery, said, “SMRSC 2026 underlines our commitment to advancing surgical innovation from India to the global stage, while marking a significant milestone in our mission to make world-class surgical care more accessible to all. With the showcase of our futuristic technologies like Project Vimana and Project Operion, we are reimagining how and where surgery can be delivered—whether it is on the battlefield, in disaster zones, or in the most remote parts of the country.
Dr. Mylswamy Annadurai Former Director, ISRO Satellite Centre, said “India has consistently demonstrated its ability to harness technology for meaningful societal impact. The focus today must be on ensuring that innovation is not only advanced, but also scalable and accessible to the common man. It is equally important to inspire young India, whose energy and potential will shape the future of innovation in the country. SSI’s continued focus on innovation strongly aligns with these ideals, reflecting a commitment to building technology that is both impactful and inclusive.
Shri Prataprao Jadhav, Hon’ble Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of AYUSH and Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, said, “India is fast emerging as a global hub for advanced medical technologies, and innovations showcased at SMRSC 2026 highlight the strength of our indigenous capabilities, with companies like SS Innovations International leading the way. Innovations like Project Vimana, Project Operion, and SSI AVTARA reflect the spirit of a new India that is self-reliant in medical technology. Platforms like SMRSC are vital in bringing together the brightest minds to shape the future of healthcare, and I am confident that the breakthroughs showcased here will go a long way in making world-class surgical care accessible to every citizen of our nation.”
Satguru Sri Madhusudan Sai, speaking at the unveiling, said, “SSI has consistently led from the front in this space and has always succeeded in its endeavours. With the launch of transformative initiatives like Vimana, Operion, and Humanoid, SSI has taken another significant step towards reshaping surgical care in India.
