NDMC Launches Intensive Sanitation Campaign to Make New Delhi Clean, Green and Dust-Free.

New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has launched an “Intensive Sanitation Campaign” across its jurisdiction today with the objective of making New Delhi clean, green and dust-free.To success the campaign, NDMC Chairman Shri Keshav Chandra directed to the all Nodal Officers at the level of Head of Departments for specific responsibilities for the activities.

The Chairman, NDMC regularly visiting one Sanitation Zone per day to monitor the on ground situation of the area for effective measures to be taken for the betterment of the area in respect of hygiene and sanitation terms.also directed the Head of Department to be in touch with RWAs, MTAs to apprise the schedule of Mechanised Road Sweepers (MRS) operations in their respective areas.To ensure effective monitoring and accountability, NDMC has designated 14 Heads of Departments as Nodal Officers, each responsible for one sanitation circle. These officers will supervise field activities, coordinate staff deployment, monitor sanitation efforts and ensure daily reporting and compliance.

During this season, collection of dry leaves poses a major challenge for sanitation teams. A significant portion of daily waste comprises dry leaves collected from main roads, footpaths, avenue roads, back lanes, markets, green belts and residential areas daily in routine for further disposal to make compost.The 4 Mechanised Road Sweepers (MRS) are deployed at NDMC area avenue roads to mitigate the challenge of dry leaves falling. As a part of dust control by the MRS these are also sweeping the roads and pavements regularly in the two shifts daily. These are also working in the night to reduce the falling trees from the roads.

As many as 17 mist sprays systems installed at Lodhi Road, Shanti path and Africa avenue roads to mitigate the road dust and pollution along with additional 1323 poles in 29 km length of 24 roads. 96 fountains installed on the various roundabouts and parks to increase the quality of air and dust mitigation.

Through this intensive sanitation campaign, NDMC reiterates its commitment to improving urban cleanliness, controlling dust pollution and enhancing environmental sustainability while encouraging active participation from citizens to collectively build a cleaner, greener and healthier New Delhi.
